ACC arrests a Wildlife Police Officer for soliciting and receiving a bribe

THE Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Wildlife Police Officer at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Sesheke for soliciting and receiving a bribe in a matter involving illegal possession of pangolin skin.
Peter Mwamba aged 24 years has since been charged with one count of Corrupt Practices by a Public Officer Contrary to Section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No.3 of 2012.
ACC Corporate Affairs Officer Jonathan Siame in a statement said on unknown dates but between 1st June 2016 and 31st May 2017, in Sesheke, Mwamba, whilst working in the public service at Sioma Ngwezi National Parks and Wildlife, corruptly solicited for and received K2, 400 cash gratification from a Samuel Mayubi as an inducement or reward for Mwamba not to arrest the said Mayubi for illegal possession of pangolin skin.
Siame said the accused has since been released on bond and will appear in Court on 5th December 2019.
