ABSA CUP: Can Blades be the 2021 Young Buffaloes
By Aaron Mubanga Jnr | April 5, 2021
The ABSA Cup every year comes up with surprises, twists, and turns and this year seems to be no different.
The FAZ/ Eden University National League leaders Konkola Blades looks to be a team not to take lightly after they eliminated Forest Rangers in the quarter-finals.
It was not a fluke that they beat Forest Rangers but they completely dominated the match and put up a great show.
During the 2018 ABSA Cup, Young Green Buffaloes went all the way to the final despite being from the lower tier.
The team beat MUZA 3-1 on post-match penalties before edging Zanaco 2-1 in the quarter-finals, after which they went on to finish off their elder brothers Green Buffaloes 4-3 on post-match penalties only to lose 3-0 to Nkana in the final.
It was not a perfect ride for Young Buffaloes but they sure raised some eyebrows, with the likes of Michael Mulenga, Emmanuel Mwiinde, and Nerbert Musamba.
Blades will face a very dangerous Zesco United in the Semifinals but impossible is nothing in football.
With their colorful social media banter, we are promised a lively build-up to this encounter.
