ABSA Cup at stake as Power host Buffaloes

Power Dynamos welcome the visit of Super League leaders Green Buffaloes on Friday at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium in a Week 17 clash.

A defeat for the Kitwe giants will see them miss out on qualification for ABSA Cup.

While Power’s resurgence under Mwenya Chipepo suffered a blow on Sunday in the derby defeat against Nkana, things are falling apart for Justin Chinama and Green Buffaloes.

The Arakan Barracks based side have gone four matches without a win, including two defeats in that run in contrast to the 12 unbeaten games they hit.

Since suffering 1-0 defeat to Nkwazi on Independence day, the Kitwe giants’ went on 7 match unbeaten run that also saw them record a 5 match winning streak.

On the log table, Buffaloes are on 30 points while Power have 22 points.

Chipepo is expected to stick with Sebastian Mwansa in goal.

Power’s defensive duo Faustina Bokadila and Raphael Makubali will face a stern test from Buffaloes twin strikeforce Friday Samu and Martin Njobvu.

Njobvu and Samu have scored 17 goals between to form deadly partnership.

Elsewhere on the pitch, the key battles are evenly matched.

Buffaloes and Napsa Stars already qualified for ABSA Cup with the six other clubs set to be revealed after this weekend’s fixtures in both the Super League and National First Division.
