ABSA Cup 2022: Former Champions, Nkana, and NAPSA face off for a place in the final

NAPSA Stars and Nkana will square off in the first semifinal of the 2022 ABSA Cup this afternoon at Woodlands Stadium.

To reach finals, the 2018 Champions and the 2012 Champions beat Lumwana Radiants and Green Buffaloes in the quarter finals respectively.

NAPSA and Kalampa are both eying their third final having both been to the final twice and each managing to win one.

NAPSA Stars boss Perry Mutapa expects a tough game when the two teams go head to head this afternoon.

Mutapa also confirmed that the Pensioners will be without two key players in Austin Banda and David Owino Odhiambo.

“Huge game for both sides, I believe Nkana has a huge fan base, the twelfth player will do a lot of good for them. It will be tough for us but being a cup game tables can turn. It will be a good game,” he said.

“Two of our key players are out. Austin got injured during training yesterday and Odhiambo got injured last week. It is a setback yes, but, also a great opportunity for other players to step up,” Coach Perry added.

Nkana assistant coach George Chilufya has declared his charges ready for the match.

“These are games that every team and every player would love to be involved in. We have done enough preparations and everyone looks in good shape and we know the importance of these games. We looking forward to a good game,” he said.

The Pensioners and Kalampa will square off at 15:00hrs at Woodlands Stadium.
