Abandoned matches headline Lusaka Provincial Division One week 29 action

As the season is drawing near to a close, the teams, are sending some coaches on leave, In addition to that, the tempers are high during the matches in search of victory.

Week 29 recorded 3 matches being abandoned in Lusaka while Young Green Buffaloes opened a 4 points lead after Lusaka City Council were derailed at Sunset Stadium.

The Lusaka Provincial Division One league this past weekend was characterized by fracas’ in different venues with 3 games being abandoned because the officials could not withstand the pressure.

On Saturday afternoon, Kabwata Dynamos Vs Airport Warriors match was abandoned in the first half (42nd minute) with Airport Warriors leading 1-0. The home side was awarded a penalty that didn’t go well with the Airport players with the referee reaching the point of calling the match off because Airport Warriors players went out of the pitch for more than 2 minutes.

On Sunday again, 2 matches were abandoned, one at Kyindu Ground between Irwin Rangers who were 3 nil down to Chongwe United. In the 87th minute, the match was abandoned after the Irwin Rangers supporters attacked the match officials with beatings.

On the same Sunday, At Crested Crane Academy, the match was stopped for more than 15 minutes between Shamuel and Misisi Youth Academy. In the 88th minute, Shamuel striker Jackson Kampamba went down in the box with the referee pointing to the penalty spot, something that Misisi players were not happy with and protested the decision. Later on, after consulting with his assistant, the penalty decision was overturned and Jackson Kampamba was given a yellow card for simulation that didn’t go well with the Shamuel players and the technical bench. The match was later stopped with the scores 0-0.

In other matches, Young Green Buffaloes’ 2-1 win over Happy Hearts handed them a 4 point lead at the summit following second-place Lusaka City Council’s 1 all draw against Young Zanaco. A similar 1 all draw result was also recorded at Miller Ground between Paramilitary and Chainda Bombers.

Kalilo Celtic continues to struggle on the sixteenth place after a 2-1 defeat at home to Young Napsa Stars. Riflemen scored once through Vinicius Mapande to beat Athletico Lusaka and move to sixth place with 38 points having one game in hand against Happy Hearts.

Vector and Sable Bulls settled for a goalless draw.
