A potential clean slate for Lazarus Kambole

After struggling to make an impact and portrayed as a white elephant for the majority of the just ended South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL), Kambole has a new gaffer and potentially a clean slate.

Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Gavin Hunt formerly of Bloemfontein Celtics to replace Ernst Middendorp who was sacked after Chiefs’ capitulation towards the end of the season to gift Sundowns their third consecutive PSL title.

Kambole only managed to score a single goal in the just-ended season and already obituaries have been written of his Chiefs career with mooted moves to Celtics and others reported.

With Hunt’s assuming the role, there is an aperture of hope for Kambole; a potential fresh start for him to show Gavin and amakhosi fans that he still has the midas touch that initially charmed Kaizer Chiefs in the first place, and is determined to make something out of his Chiefs career.

Prior to his move to Kaizer Chiefs Kambole was on song and in his final season scored 16 goals to help the Ndola giants to win the League and the ABSA Cup.
