70 HOUSES COLLAPSE IN CHAMA

Over 70 houses have collapsed leaving several families homeless in Mabinga ward of Chama District in Chama South Constituency – Eastern Province.

This follows heavy rains that have characterised the district in recent days.

Mabinga Ward Area Councilor LAMECK ZIMBA, who visited the flooded area to appreciate the situation, is saddened by the extent of the disaster.

Mr. ZIMBA said it is unfortunate that people have been left homeless and have had their properties damaged due to heavy rains.

He urged the victims to remain calm as the matter is being escalated to relevant offices.

And Mr. ZIMBA has appealed to government to help the victims with temporary accommodation and foodstuff stating that the affected families are currently squatting in their neighbours homes.
