7 CONTRACTORS NOT YET ON SITE – NKOMBO

Seven contractors who have been hired by the Government to rehabilitate township and feeder roads in Kapiri Mposhi District have not yet moved on site despite being paid up front.

Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO says it is disappointing that the contractors have not mobilised and there is no activity at their respective sites.

Speaking when he conducted an on the spot check in Kapiri Mposhi, Mr. NKOMBO also revealed that for one contractor, the number of Kilometers for the project where increased unnecessarily.

The Minister disclosed that his Ministry has since engaged a Consultant to audit all contracts countrywide to assess how far contractors have gone in executing their works.

Mr. NKOMBO said the audit will give Government an idea of how the contracts which have already been awarded are performing.
