600 Zambian youths US bound

By Wilson Mulinda

Government has secured internship opportunities in the United States of America for 600 Zambian youths.

Youth, Sport and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU says the youths, who will be mostly drawn from the fields of psycho-social counselling and social work will be sent to the USA next year on a 6-month work agreement.

Mr. NKANDU says the youths will be paid 40 US dollars per hour for eight hours of daily service during their stay in the USA.

He says the initiative will also expose the youths to other opportunities while they exchange ideas with fellow youths from that country.

Mr. NKANDU disclosed this when he officially handed over technology equipment to Mufumbwe Youth Resource Centre which was donated by the United Nations Development Programme -UNDP- through the joint programme on youth empowerment and employment in Zambia.
