5,000 NAKONDE CATTLE TO GET JABS

The veterinary department in Muchinga province targets to vaccinate 5,000 cattle in Nakonde district against the contagious Bovine Plural Pneumonia -CBPP.

Muchinga Province Veterinary Officer, WILSON KATUMBI revealed in an interview with NAIS that the vaccines have already been delivered in Nakonde district.

He said the vaccination is only done in Nakonde because the disease usually breaks out in the border town.

Dr. KATUMBI disclosed that CBPP is a highly contagious disease that affects Cattle.

Dr. KATUMBI explained that the vaccination is with support from the Enhanced Smallholder Livestock Investment Program -E-SLIP.

He has since appealed to all cattle owners in Nakonde district to present their animals for vaccination.

Dr. KATUMBI has further urged livestock farmers to regularly dip and de-worm their livestock to avoid various diseases.
