4 dead,16 Injured in Kapiri Mposhi Accident

Four people have died while 16 others have sustained injuries in a head-on collision accident on the Great North Road in Kapiri Mposhi, Central province.

The accident, which involved a Mitsubishi Rosa bus, which was carrying 18 passengers, and a HOWO truck, happened today around 11:40 hours, around the Green Leaf area.

Central Province Police Commissioner, CHARITY MUNGANGA has confirmed the accident, stating that the deceased include the driver of the Rosa bus and three passengers.

Ms MUNGANGA has explained that the driver of the bus, identified as CHINJAJA MOOTO MBAMVU, aged 44, was overtaking, when his vehicle collided with the truck, which was coming from the opposite direction.

She has further identified the driver of the truck as KENNEDY BANDA, aged 37, who is among those injured in the accident.

Ms MUNGANGA has said bodies of the deceased persons are lying in Kapiri district and Kabwe Central hospitals, where the injured are also admitted for treatment.
