35 Gwembe bridges washed away

Thirty five bridges have been washed away in Gwembe District in Southern Province, leaving four wards cut off from the Central Business District.

Gwembe Member of Parliament TYSON SIMUZINGILI says the destruction caused by floods is massive and it has left many people stranded as they cannot access government services.

Mr. SIMUZINGILI says the Gwembe Town Council has written to the Central Government to urgently request for K78m to fund the rehabilitation of the bridges to allow residents move with ease.

Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, Mr. SIMUZINGILI also appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit to quickly move into the district and help the residents.
