3,000 CHILDREN GET VACCINATION FOR COVID-19

Over 3,000 children aged between 12 and 17, have so far been vaccinated against the Coronavirus since December 2021.

And 8,000 vaccinated adults have so far received booster vaccines against the Covid-19.

Zambia National Public Health Institute Head of Information Systems, MAZYANGA MAZABA, says the statistics are from Lusaka and Copperbelt Provinces.

Ms MAZABA says the vaccination has since been rolled out to other parts of the country so that more children can be vaccinated against Covid-19.

She says it is also important for schools to put in place Covid-19 measures that would help ensure adherence to the five Golden rules as schools reopen for the first term, this year.

Ms MAZABA, however, says the Insititue has seen an increase in the number of teachers getting the vaccines.

Meanwhile , the country has recorded 8 deaths in the last 24 hours of which 3 are Covid 19 deaths while 5 are Covid associated deaths.

The country has also recorded 1, 104 Covid 19 postive cases against the 4, 804 tests conducted, while 3,658 have recovered .

This is according to the ZNPHI daily statistics obtained by ZNBC.

The country currently has 16, 297 active Covid 19 cases, of which 204 are admitted in various isolation centers while 16, 093 are under community management.

Of the 204 patients admitted to isolation centers, 100 are on Oxygen while 28 are in critical condition.
