3 YEAR OLD DIES IN ARSON FIRE

A 3 year-old girl has been burnt to death, while her two siblings have survived, following a house fire in Kanakantapa area in Chongwe district.

The deceased has been identified as Emelliah Tembo.

The incident happened, when unknown people allegedly set fire to the house, where the girl was sleeping together with her siblings.

This happened as the children’s mother was sleeping in another house with a boyfriend.

An eye-witness, Nixon Ngoma, who managed to rescue the surviving children, has narrated to ZANIS that he heard them shouting for help.

Mr Ngoma says he, however, had to break open the door, as it was locked from inside, and only managed to save 2 children.

Meanwhile, Chongwe District Commissioner, Robster Mwanza has visited the funeral house, where he expressed concern with the rising number of arson cases in the area.

Mr Mwanza has urged residents in the area to help police with information, so that the perpetrators of the crime are brought to book.
