2022 DRAFT BUDGET APPROVED

Cabinet has approved the Draft 2022 National Budget presented to it by Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE.

Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA says the budget slated for presentation to the National Assembly this Friday sets outs the beginning of the implementation of the development programmes spelt out in the UPND manifesto.

Ms. KASANDA says the budget is premised on the recognition that Zambia has this year been faced with various challenges such as high inflation and debt which slowed down the economy and was worsened by the dawn of Covid-19.

She says the New Dawn government through the 2022 National Budget aims to set in place measures to restore macroeconomic stability, attain fiscal debt sustainability, restore growth and improve human development among others.

Ms. KASANDA who is also Information and Media Minister says the budget will also target areas that are key in Zambia attaining objectives such as the Draft Eighth National Development Plan.

She has since encouraged citizens and development partners to attentively listen to the budget speech for more details as the new dawn administration embarks on its journey of developing the country.

This is according to a statement availed to ZNBC News highlighting decisions made by Cabinet at its second meeting held on Monday October 25 and called by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
