ZRA Extends TPIN Registration Deadline to Dec 31st

Commissioner General of the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Kingsley Chanda has extended the Tax Payer Identification Number (TPIN) registration deadline from 30th June, 2018 to 31st December, 2018.

This follows consultations with stakeholders that include the Bankers Association of Zambia.

ZRA corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda has disclosed Mr. Chanda has also clarified that the objective of the TPIN registration is to ensure that there is an inclusive and comprehensive tax register in the country.

Mr. Sikalinda has told Qfm news the TPIN requirement is not only peculiar to Zambia but a global practice.

He states that the law requires that a TPIN is used when making transactions with the
ZRA for imports and Exports.

Mr. Sikalinda says the Ministry of lands will also request the TPIN to process Property registrations and Transfers.

He adds that Road Traffic and Safety Agency (RTSA) will also demand TPIN for Motor Vehicle registration & change of ownership as well as ZESCO for new applications for power connection.

Mr. Sikalinda states that all banks and financial institutions will equally request the TPIN for opening or maintaining an account.

He says to this this effect all those that obtained TPINs must ensure they deliver them to their respective banks as soon as possible.
