ZICTA Urged To Urgently Address Poor Service Delivery By Mobile Service Providers

By Balewa Zyuulu

Government has urged the Zambia Information and Communications technology authority –ZICTA- to urgently address the continued poor service delivery by the country’s three mobile service providers.

Last year ZICTA penalized all the 3 mobile network providers namely Airtel, MTN and Zamtel 12.6 million kwacha for failing to adhere to the quality of service parameters as outlined in the quality of service guidelines during the fourth quarter of 2017 and first quarter of 2018 respectively.

And speaking this morning after an interactive meeting with ZICTA members of staff at ZICTA head office, Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo advised the authority to intensify its mandate of protecting consumers of telecommunication services.

Mr Lusambo says government expects the authority to play its role of regulating the provision of information and communication technologies and protecting the rights and interests of consumers and service providers.
