ZESCO Power Transmission Poles Gutted In Suspected Subotage

CLOSE to 60 Zesco power transmission poles worth K84,000 were yesterday burnt to ashes by unknown people at Chama Day Secondary School in Muchinga Province.

The poles were kept at the school in readiness for installation in the area when suspected saboteurs set fire to them.

The Daily Mail found the poles burning as people watched helplessly because efforts to extinguish the inferno had failed.
Zesco spokesperson Henry Kapata said in an interview that police in the area managed to salvage only 11 out of the 70 poles.
