Zambia Police: Housing Allowances For Police Officers Has Not Been Removed By Lungu

THE police have dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting that President Edgar Lungu has removed housing allowance for police officers.
This is in a matter in which the some authors of the online media report have reported that the office of the Inspector General of Police received a circular stating that police officers will no longer be receiving their housing allowance effective November 2016.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo dismissed those speculations in a statement to Mwebantu
She said at no point did the office of the Inspector General receive any circular from Government suggesting or indicating the removal of housing allowance for police officers as purported by the authors.
“We therefore advise members of the public to treat such unsubstantiated and baseless information with the contempt it deserves as it was originated by day dreamers whose aim is to mislead members of the public and also to ferment hate in police officers,” Katongo said.
Katongo also made it clear that only police officers who are NOT accommodated in government houses are entitled to housing allowance.
