Zambia’s Ministry of Health says it is on high alert following the outbreak of the new strain of coronavirus in China in which more than 200 cases have so far been reported.

And the Ministry of Health is assuring citizens that the outbreak will not affect the country despite movements of citizens of both countries visiting each other as all boarder entry points are protected and screening on-going.

Dr. Abel Kabalo, is Ministry of Health Spokesperson and has told Phoenix News that the Public Health Security is doing everything possible to ensure people are protected from the coronavirus outbreak in china.

Dr. Kabalo said scanners have been placed at all busy entry points to ensure they detect any rising temperature of passengers entering Zambia.

Following this outbreak in major cities in china including Beijing and Shanghai, the world health organization is considering declaring an international public health emergency over the virus as it did with swine flu and Ebola.
