WHO CALLS FOR CONTINUED MONITORING OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES FOLLOWING DROUGHT AND DISEASE OUTBREAKS

The World Health Organization –WHO- has called for the continued monitoring of health care service delivery in Zambia to ensure sustainability following the drought situation and the recent cholera outbreak.
WHO Country Representative Dr. Nathan Bakyaita says any disease outbreak or an occurrence such as the ongoing drought, tend to have a negative impact on the country’s health services.
Dr. Bakyaita says this is because any such development occurs alongside other diseases that equally require attention.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bakyaita has urged the general public to maintain and practice the measures instituted to curb the cholera outbreak which has recorded a reduced number of cases in the country.
Dr. Bakyaita observes that Zambia has almost won the battle against the cholera outbreak experienced towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year.
