UPND Cracks: Spokesperson Quits To Join PF

LifwekeloThe opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) house is beginning to fall apart with party Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo jumping ship to re-join the ruling Patriotic Front.

Lifwekelo has been one of those standing beside UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema but seems to have given hope on the allegedly egoistic tendencies of the supreme leader who lost the August 11 elections.

The UPND house has been divided over whether the route of petitioning the elections is wise after the party’s experience in the post 2001 elections when Anderson Mazoka narrowly lost to Levy Mwanawasa.

Lifwekelo may just be the first of the many to cross over in the loneliness of defeat.

He was the first Secretary General of the Patriotic Front when it was founded by Michael Sata and later joined the MMD before heading to the UPND.
