Under-20 Battle with Burundi Today

The Zambia Under-20 national team take on Burundi this afternoon in a Niger 2019 first leg, final round qualifier at Nkoloma Stadium.

Zambia who are the defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations will be hoping to win with an emphatic result to ease the task in the return leg in Ngozi that takes place seven days later.

Skipper Prince Mumba is ruled out for this match due to injury but his namesake Prince Bwalya will take the lead from the goal mouth.

Coach Charles Bwale and the technical bench will be looking to the potency of the attacking trio of Francisco Mwepu, Lameck Banda and Israel based Kings Kangwa.

In midfield Thomas Zulu will anchor proceedings while there could be a role for Oliver Lumbiya in the middle of the pack.

At the back Kingsley Hakwiya may be partnered with Kasonde Mulenga although Christopher Katongo could still be in line for that slot with Justin Mwanza and Benson Kolala completing the set up at the back.

Zambia warmed up for this match with a 1-0 loss to Malawi before drawing 3-all with South Africa.

Burundi got to this stage after beating Ethiopia and Sudan and will pose a serious challenge to Zambia’s aspirations to qualify for the Africa Cup.

Tickets for the match have been pegged at K20 open wing and K100 VIP.

Fans can purchase tickets from Shoprite outlets via computicket.

Kickoff is at 15:00 hours.
