THIS JUST IN: PiLato, Laura Miti, Sean Tembo acquitted

LUSAKA Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile has acquitted activists that were charged and arrested for staging an unlawful assembly and causing a breach of peace.
Civil society activist, Laura Miti, musician Fumba Chama(PiLato) and Patriot for Economic Progress (PeP) President Sean Tembo and 3 others were acquitted this morning.
The six were arrested last year when they protested at parliamentary grounds during the presentation of the Budget by the Minister of Finance.
The protest was staged over the purchase by Ministry of Local Government of 42 fire tenders for $42million.
But when the matter came whether the six had a case to answer, Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile discharged the activists for insufficient evidence presented by the prosecution.
They were represented by lawyer Keith Mweemba.
