TALC Relieved With Us Government’s Pledge To Continue Working And Supporting Zambia

By Penjani Banda

An HIV/AIDS Non-governmental organization is relieved that the United States government has pledged to continue working and supporting Zambia despite recent differences with its Ambassador to Zambia that led to his recalling.

Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign –TALC- National Director Felix Mwanza says the statement issued by the United States department of state reaffirming its continued support to the Zambian government comes as a soothing relief especially to people living with HIV in the country.

Mr. Mwanza says he feared what impact the strained relations that had developed between the two governments would have had on persons living with HIV and hopes whatever issue remains unresolved will be settled amicably.

He told Phoenix News that TALC looks forward to more cordial relations between the two governments as this stands to benefit the Zambian people.

And Political Analyst Dr. Alex N’goma says the statement made by the US department of state assures Zambians that the US government and the Zambian government are still friends despite their differences.

Dr. N’goma says it is inevitable for nations to differ as they hold different views but this however does mark the end of their relationship.
