Historian Professor Bizeck Phiri says the continued shrinking civic space in the country is worrying.

Reacting to the disruption of a public discussion meeting organised by the Law Association of Zambia, Professor Phiri said it is time for both the ruling and opposition party political party leaders to address the situation to avoid a further degeneration of civic space.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Professor Phiri says the only way to enhance democracy is by tolerating those with divergent views.

On Monday evening this week, suspected political party cadres stormed intercontinental hotel to disrupt a LAZ sponsored public debate on bill 10.
