Prof. Lumumba Denied Entry into Zambia

Fabled Kenyan law professor Patrick Lumumba has been denied entry into Zambia by immigration officials.


Lumumba had been due to speak at Golden Peacock Hotel with tickets for the event already sold but the pan Africanist was turned away by the immigration officials at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.


Professor Lumumba was invited by Eden University for a public discussion.

Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya gave the biggest hint at the reasons Lumumba may have been turned away with her tweet, “Government through immigration officials has denied entry into Zambia of Prof. Lumumba, a Kenyan national due to security considerations. Immigration is a security wing working with agencies within and beyond Zambia.”

The move is an anti-climax to government having allowed an anti-government protest during the budget presentation on Friday.
