President Edgar Lungu says he is shocked that some people are questioning the allocation of plots at Lusaka’s forest reserve 27.

Most stakeholders especially environmental conservationist Robert Chimambo and William Harrington who have opposed the allocation of plots in the forest reserve.

But speaking to journalists in Chongwe on Saturday, the President said people have lived in forest reserve 27 for many decades and wonders why the allocation of plots to a few more indigenous individuals brought about the so much talk.

The Head of State has since challenged journalists in the country to interrogate what constitutes forest 27 as opposed to listening to people he says are spreading false hoods.

Meanwhile President Lungu has urged farmers in the country to plant treated seeds if the challenge of fall army worms that ravaged crops in the past is to be avoided.

Speaking when he toured Presidential Physician Brigadier General Panganani Njobvu’s Farm in Chongwe’s Silverest area today, President Lungu appealed to farmers to institute right agriculture practices if they are to yield benefits from the promising rainy season.

The head of state says farmers should be smart enough to avoid the fall army worms especially that scientists have predicted that the caterpillar like worms will be there for a long time.

And Syngenta Head of Commercials Brian Mhango told the President that the company has come with an innovation which is not only cost saving but controls army worms during plant life.

Mr. Mhango says this is in an effort to help small scale farmers achieve productivity.

During the tour of General Njobvu’s farm, the President who was impressed with production at the farm also planted trees, maize and toured the fish ponds.
