Despite facing a challenge to the adoption having overcame tough competition, Chiteme has managed to bring everyone on board and has consolidated the structures heading for a resounding victory on cAugust 11.

Divo Katete – United Party for National Development (UPND)

A former Mayor and losing candidate in the same constituency, Katete brings to table his experience after serving in the council but cannot win the seat due to a number of reasons that has damaged his political career.

He was Mayor under the Patriotic Front before he ditched the ruling party to contest as Member of Parliament for Nkana under the Movement for Multiparty Democracy.

His decision to ditch the party after being left out of the adoptions is viewed as betrayal by electorates.

Just last year, the UPND candidate was acquitted in a defilement case where it was alleged that he defiled his own niece. His record leaves his political career dented despite the UPND adopting him as its candidate.

Ernest Mulebi, (FDD), a former UPND Member, will not have it easy due to lack of experience as evidenced from his struggles during the campaigns.

Little known Faston Mwale, the Rainbow Kitwe District vice Treasure believes that leadership is about serving the people and has weighed in for the seat. He hopes to win the seat but there is nothing home to write about his political experience.

Nkana Constituency has only been held under the opposition once by Mwenya Musenge who on the seat on the Patriotic Front in the 2006 General Elections.

In 1991 the Nkana seat was won by Barnabas Bungono of the MMD, 1996 the seat went to Robbie Kasuba of the MMD, 2001 MMD still reclaimed the seat with George Chilumanda.
