Potipher Tembo ignores President Lungu, files in under UPND

President Edgar Lungu has been ignored by Chawama UPND aspiring candidate Potipher Tembo.

Tembo who initially applied to contest on the Patriotic Front ticket defected from the ruling party after being left out of the adoption process despite being the favorite.

President Lungu who called the unsuccessfully candidates on Saturday had earlier made efforts convince Tembo not to defect according to sources within PF, but he has ignored him.

Tembo has defected and subsequently been adopted by the UPND after making a public condemnation of PF’s systems of adoption. By press time Tembo was reportedly about to file in his nomination under UPND.

Meanwhile the UPND has failed to field in a candidate in the Mulobezi mayoral race. According to the well placed sources the UPND failed to bring a candidate through due to some factional politics within. The PF candidate has reportedly gone through unopposed.

Efforts to get a comment from UPND Spokesperson Charles Kakoma and his Deputy Edwin Lifwekelo failed as their phones went unanswered.
