Police Arrest Namwala Violence Mastermind

Police in Namwala have arrested the alleged master minder of the post election violence in the area that left several people injured and homeless.

Southern Province police Chief Bonnie Kapeso named the suspect as 36 year old Dickson Mukalanga of Namwala.

Kapeso said that the police command in the area had failed to arrest the suspect until his office effected a transfer that saw the Officer in Charge shipped out of the area for a replacement who executed the arrest.

Namwala become a trouble spot in the post election period with some locals rising up against perceived ruling party supporters mainly outside the local tribal grouping.

Many people were displaced and housed at Namwala High School and have since been repatriated to their provinces of origin.

Currently an inquiry sanction by President Edgar Lungu on election induced violence is sitting and expected to touch base with the rest of the country.
