Police Arrest 12 UPND Cadres

Matero PoliceThe bad blood between the Zambia Police and United Party for National Development was on display after the court appearance of Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba on Monday.

Police arrested 12 UPND cadres in a fracas that left three UPND supporters injured with a police officer also beaten up in the process.

The UPND cadres had blocked the road heading to Moba Hotel overrunning the police officers manning traffic on the road.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga who has had run-ins with the UPND said three cadres arrested had escaped from lawful custody at Nkana Police Post.

GBM’s case has been adjourned to June 24 for the possible commencement of trial.
