PF Dismiss Hichilema’s Rigging Claims

HH, Nevers & GBM - ECZThe PF says claims by the UPND that Thursdays’ elections have been rigged are unfounded.

PF Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says it is impossible to manipulate the results as the process of verification is stringent.

But UPND Legal Counsel Martha Mushipe has accused the PF of conniving with the Electoral Commission of Zambia to manipulate the results of Thursday’s polls.

And UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango has challenged the Electoral Commission of Zambia to quickly declare the winner of Thursday’s General elections.

Nalumango has bemoaned the slow pace at which the results are being announced and has alleged that the process is not transparent thereby causing anxiety among Zambians.

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says on Sunday the ECZ agreed to a recount of ballots in Lusaka district because many G12 certificates were not issued and several irregularities were identified totalling thousands of votes.

“The Commission agreed to form a task team of stakeholders to oversee the process, but shortly after our meeting the decision was reversed. We continue to call for a recount of votes in Lusaka district for the sake of free, fair, credible and transparent elections,” Hichilema said
