PF Cadres give Police 24 hour ultimatum

Patriotic Front (PF) youths in Southern province have given the Zambia Police command in the province a 24 hour ultimatum in which to arrest United Party for National Development (UPND) Livingstone district spokesperson Neto Halwabala for disrespecting President Edgar Lungu.

PF provincial youth vice chairperson Obby Mweemba said that PF youths in the province are going organize for a peaceful protest against the police command if Mr Halwabala is not summoned to the police station within 24 hours.

Mr Mweemba said the PF youths in the province have for a long time tolerated Mr Halwabala’s  ‘negative and insulting’ sentiments towards the head of state adding that time has come for the law enforcers to make sure that Mr Halwabala does not bring breed anarchy in the province.

He said Mr Halwabala should live with the fact that President Edgar Lungu was duly elected by the Zambian people and that any person claiming that the President is not a legitimate leader is insulting the electorates and needs to be dealt with by the long arms of the law.

“The youths are very angry with Halwabala over his recent ranting over the legality of President Lungu being in State House and that he will never recognise him as the head of state. The Youths want to bounce on Halwabala but we have managed to restrain them hoping that the law will take its course but up to now nothing is being done by our men in uniform in the province.

“As youths we are very disappointed with the behavior being exhibited by the Police because by now they should have summoned the UPND official who seems to have nothing constructive to talk about rather than just dream about President Lungu. We are giving the Police 24hours in which to summon Mr Neto failure to which we shall march to the police station and place a vote of no confidence in the police command, ”Mr Mweemba said.

He called on peace loving Zambians to give a deaf ear to opposition leaders that have vowed to divide the nation based on tribal lines and regionalism.

The UPND Livingstone district official was quoted in some sections of the media as having said that the opposition political party will not regognise the presidency of President Edgar Lungu because he was not dully elected, a statement that has angered PF youths in the province
