Personal interests hindering national dialogue – Phiri

Personal interests of key political players has been cited as one of the main reason the national dialogue process has failed to take off in the Country.

Political historian Bizeck Phiri has however acknowledged that dialogue among warring parties does sometimes take long to finally take off.

vlcsnap-0041-10-13-12h46m44s271Professor Phiri,  who is a university lecturer, nonetheless, says it is good that there is still talk about starting the dialogue process.

He states that there is therefore need to treat the issue of national dialogue with the seriousness it deserves.

And Professor Phiri has commended the caliber of the eminent persons whom the Zambia Centre For Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) has flouted as those that will lead its dialogue process.

Professor Phiri says the four eminent persons come with them with a lot of experience.

He has nevertheless warned that the dialogue process will not go anywhere should the debate on who should lead the process continue.
