Parley elects Matibini and Namugala as Speaker and Deputy

Speaker of National Assembly Patrick Matibini has been re-elected for the 2016-21 term to president over the 12th National Assembly. Dr Matibini went though unopposed and was declared duly elected.

Dr Matibini who was first elected as Speaker in 2011 was  High Court Judge until his election to National Assembly.

And MMD’s Catherine Namugala has also been declared duly elected as first deputy speaker after her candidature went unopposed.

Meanwhile PF’s Mwimba Malama also went through unopposed and is now second deputy speaker after being declared duly elected.

Parliament has today, September 23,2016 started its sitting with the election of the Speaker and two Deputy speakers of national Assembly
