Opinion Poll: Readers back HH to win elections

UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema would win if elections were held today, according to Zambian Eye readers.

In an opinion poll conducted on this publication’s Facebook page, 72.5 percent of the respondent gave the UPND strongman their backing while incumbent president Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front was a distant second with 21.7 percent.

Edith Nawakwi of the FDD was third with 2.8 percent of the vote, while Peter Sinkamba of the Green Party and Wynter Kabimba of the Rainbow party had managed 1.4 percent apiece. Tilyenji Kaunda (UNIP), Andyford Banda (PAC) and Saviour Chishimba (UPP) had no votes.

Zambia will hold general elections on August 11.
