A 42 year old street vendor of Mtendere compound in Lusaka identified as,Thomas Chibilika, sustained a bullet wound when shots were fired during a clash between cadres of ruling PF and UPND. This was during UPND funeral procession for their fellow member who died in Kaoma.

Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has revealed in a statement that the victim was shot at as he was selling his merchandise at Intercity bus terminus.

He revealed that police had earlier denied the UPND from proceeding with their procession but did not heed to the advice hence the move to disperse them.

“The cadres are reported to have been unruly and are alleged to have caused damage to property and caused alarm and fear in people in surrounding areas forcing business houses to close,” Kanganja said.

“After being dispersed, the cadres scampered in different directions while others went to Intercity Bus Terminus where one person identified as Thomas Chibilika aged 42 of mtendere compound is reported to have been shot at on his right thigh as he was selling his merchandise in a boutique at intercity bus terminus.”
