Nkana and Zesco in Charity Shield showdown

Zesco United and Nkana will square off this afternoon in the 2017 FAZ/MTN Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Both sides had gassy semi final victories, with Zesco United switching off Power Dynamos via a resounding 4-2 result while Nkana proved too good for Zanaco beating them 3-0 in matches staged at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Nkana and Zesco ties always cast into play interesting dimensions that always add the extra motivation for either side to want to win.

Zesco United have enjoyed dominance over Nkana but the Kitwe side broke that voodoo last year on November 16 whey the beat the former 3-2 for the first time in 17 matches.

Today’s game will be different with both sides motivated to make a strong statement at the beginning of the season.

Zesco United will be without influential striker Jackson Mwanza but Coach Zlatko Krmpotic will be happy that Idriss Mbombo has shaken off injury concerns and is available for selection.

Jackson Were will be the man to look out for, having netted a brace in Thursday’s semi final win over Power Dynamos.

However Nkana will be looking to 2016 season leading scorer Walter Bwalya and Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba to inspire the Kitwe side to another victory against Zesco United.

The match kicks off at 15h00 with tickets available through Computicket.
