Ncheka Pupils Writes New Exam after Stolen Scripts

The over 42 grade nine pupils at Ncheka Primary School in Mambwe District whose written examination scripts were stolen are this week rewriting their exams.

Eastern Province Principal Education Standards officer Beatrice Botha said the Ministry of Education set new papers for the grade nine candidates whose answer sheets were stolen from the strong room at the school.

Botha said the affected pupils started rewriting on Monday this week and are expected to finish on Sunday.

She said the pupils would rewrite all the papers apart from Business Studies.

Botha said some grade nine pupils at Chinunda Primary School in Chipangali District whose written examination scripts were also stolen are also rewriting.

She said the theft occurred in the middle of the examination period saying 13 pupils whose answer sheets for integrated science were stolen and seven whose already written Art and design scripts were stolen were also rewriting their examinations.

Last month police indicated that a watchman and four pupils were arrested in connection with the theft that took place at Ncheka Primary School.

Later Eastern Province police commissioner Luckson Sakala said police have not yet found any clue linking the suspects to the theft before releasing them on police bond.
