construction in zambiaThe National Council for Construction (NCC) has warned that it will from now enforce the Law by making Contractors be jailed for violating some long overlooked regulations.

Speaking at a media interaction on Monday, NCC Executive Director Matthew Ngulube says his organisation has not enforced the regulations and defaulting Constructors have taken advantage of that by not following the regulations as stipulated.

He mentioned the regulation that guides how foreign companies should partner with a local entity for them to get a contract as one of the most violated as of late Foreign companies have not partnered thereby violating the Zambian laws.

And NCC has asked all companies to engage it in training their local human resources so as to meet the international standards and compete with foreign companies in getting contracts.

He adds that only 30 local companies are in Grade one standard but the rest are in lower grades that makes it difficult to get big projects as compared to Foreign entities.
