National AIDS Council Dissolved

The Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has dissolved the board of the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council in line with provisions of Section 5 of the National Council Act NO. 10 of 2002.
Dr Chilufya says this has been done with Government efforts in repositioning the National AIDS Council. He says this is in order to improve its efficacy in providing coherent multi sectoral coordination as part of the escalated response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
He says the new board members to be appointed in due course ,should promote actions for prevention, promote quicker testing and treatment, curbing stigma, and mainstreaming positive messaging in response against HIV /AIDS.
The Minister is positive that the President’s personal commitment has motivated the ministry as it confronts the epidemic
