Mukata’s wife endorses PF candidate for Chilanga

Maricoh Mukata, wife of incarcerated former UPND Member of Parliament Keith Mukata, has called on the people of Chilanga to vote for PF candidate Maria Langa-Phiri in the June 5 parliamentary by-election.

Langa-Phiri is locked in what is largely seen as a two-horse race with UPND candidate and Keith Mukata’s ex-girlfriend Charmaine Musonda.

Last year, Mukata and Musonda were jointly charged with the murder of Namakambwa Kalilakwenda, a security guard at the former’s law firm. Mukata was convicted and given the death penalty while Musond was acquitted.

Speaking at a media briefing in Namalombwe Ward today, Maricoh said her husband supports the candidature of Maria Langa as the right person to replace him.

She also stated that she and Mukata are still married and have never at any time divorced.

“We have three children together. My husband and I have endorsed the PF candidate Mrs. Maria Langa-Phiri for Chilanga,” Maricoh said.

“UPND has not offered us any support after the husband was incarcerated but has only been supported by the PF and Keith’s friends from the legal fraternity. I should emphasise that Keith and I are still married and have never divorced at any time”.

Maricoh was flanked by PF candidate Langa- Phiri and her campaign manager Jean Kapata, who is also PF national women chairperson and Minister of Lands.
