Mini bus plunges off Kafubu bridge in Ndola, killing one person
ONE person has died while six others have sustained injuries in an accident involving a motor cycle and a hiace minibus.
The accident happened on Thursday around 17:30 hours along Twapia road at Kafubu bridge in Ndola.
The accident happened when the bus which was being driven by an unknown male Driver of unknown age and house number with five (05) passengers on board collided with the rider dued to excessive speed and later the vehicle plunged into the river.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed this and ssid the driver of the bus ran away after the accident.
Hamoonga said the male Rider adult sustained multiple body injuries and died upon arrival at Ndola Teaching Hospital whilst his pillion (passenger), who is also unknown sustained fractured right leg and is admitted to Ndola Teaching Hospital.
Hamoonga identified the injured passengers as Daniel Chisabila aged 42 years of Lubuto who sustained painful right ribs, Agripa Musonda aged 26 years of Twapia overspil who sustained a deep cut on the right knee, Male Chambula Joseph aged 33 years of overspill Twapia who sustained a painful left leg and arm, Tommy Musonda aged 22 years of old Twapia who complained of general body pains, and Whyman Mwewa aged 35 years of Pamodzi who sutained a deep cut on the head.
Hamoonga said that all the victims are admitted to Ndola Teaching Hospital.
“The accident happened when the motorist who was approaching from the direction of South to North was moving at an excessive speed and in the process collided with the rider who was approaching from the opposite direction and later the vehicle plunged into the river,” said unknown male Rider adult who sustained multiple body injuries and died upon arrival at Ndola Teaching Hospital who was riding a unregistered star sport motor cycle whilst his passenger a unknown male adult sustained fractured right leg and he is admitted to Ndola Teaching Hospital.
