Media Owners Form Association; Expose PF & UPND Debt

The newly formed Association of Media Owners hit out at the Patriotic Front and UPND for not meeting their financial obligations for services rendered by media houses during elections.

Some media houses mostly Radio stations have teamed up to form an association and went for the two major political parties and the Electoral Commission of Zambia for not paying them for their services.

Association chairperson Oscar Chavula, who is also Hot FM Managing Director, said that the media had rendered their services to political parties but were struggling to get their payments.

He said that even the ECZ had been feeding the media houses with stories whenever approached to honour their obligations.

The political parties were outdoing each other flooding the media with campaign messages but may not have been as keen in paying for services rendered.

It is the first time that media owners have grouped themselves although they are not famed for allowing their employees join hands in forming or belonging to unions.
