Lusaka Water Supply And Sanitation Company Unionized Workers On The Verge Of Downing Tools

By Leah Ngoma

Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Unionized Workers are on the verge of going on strike due to numerous issues that have remained unresolved for a long time.

Zambia Water and Sanitation Engineering and Allied Workers Union Chairperson Moses Mwale has accused management at the institution of prioritizing spending in areas that benefit themselves as opposed to satisfying the needs of the workers.

Mr. Mwale explains that the workers are demanding consolidated salaries which entail adding all applicable monthly allowances to the basic salary.

He says management has over the years consistently refused to consolidate the worker’s salaries leading to a situation where the workers feel their labor only goes to support management employees.

Mr. Mwale has since urged Water Development and Sanitation Minister Mike Mposha to quickly give audience to the union and the entire Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company workforce in order to understand their challenges.

But when contacted for a comment, Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Public Relations Officer Nshamba Muzungu says he will soon issue a comprehensive statement on the matter.
