President Edgar Lungu addressing the press

President Edgar Lungu fearing to face Paramount Chitimukulu of the Bemba people has cancelled his trip to Kasama.

On November 1, 2017, Chitimukulu wrote to President Lungu complaining that he felt cheated after the Head of State failed to honour the promises he had made to him.

The Chief in his letter stated that he wanted President Lungu to explain as he visits Kasama on November 14, 2017 why he has not honoured on his promises. The Chief complained in the letter seen by Zambian Eye that after campaigning, President Lungu has now abandoned him.

Paramount Chitimukulu said he was not happy that President Lungu has not even appointed his royal subject Joel Ngu who tiresely campaigned for President Lungu.

He said President Lungu had promised that he would work on hamonising the sour relationship created by his predecessor Michael Sata who had refused to recognise the current Chitimukulu.

A source close to Chitimukulu tells Zambian Eye that the visit to Kasama next week would have been an opportunity for Traditional leader to face President Lungu and put up her greavances.

President Lungu was supposed to be in kasama on Tuesday 14th November for the ground breaking ceremony for the college government which they will be building in Kasama but today the provincial minister informed the public in northern province that lungu will not be coming.

“The President fears the Chief that he has cancelled his trip if anyone had any doubts about your post (stoty) this should show them the truth.. President Lungu has failed to come to Northern province after he received that latter from the Bemba chief,” the source told Zambian Eye Tuesday night.
