LIBALA PUPILS CONVICTED OVER LEAKED EXAMS

The Lusaka Magistrate Court has convicted six pupils from Libala Secondary School for being in possession of a leaked mathematics paper during the just ended Grade twelve examinations.
Lusaka Magistrate Humphrey Chitalu has since ordered the four female pupils and two males to pay five thousand Kwacha each failure to which they will save a prison sentence of eighteen months.
In passing the ruling, Magistrate Chitalu said the judiciary is saddened with the use of leakages during examinations hence the need to send a serious warning to would be offenders.
He said the credibility of the country’s examinations risks being compromised if people continue using leakages.
Magistrate Chitalu said it is sad that pupils have stopped studying knowing fully well that their parents will supply them with leakages.
He said it embarrassing that people even go to an extent of breaking into strong rooms to steal examination papers.
Magistrate Chitalu further noted that those who use leakages disadvantage other people when it comes to job opportunities and scholarships.
