Letter: Concerns Of Unza Students

Good evening, please post for me.

I want to thank the government of the Republic of Zambia under the able leadership of Mr Edgar Lungu, not forgetting Madam Luo. However on behalf of the students we seek to be addressed on a few matters which are causing panic.

The first matter is that of increasing Loan Agreement Forms from K10 to K30. It would be in the interest of the students if the Ministry of Higher Education could come out and explain, or justify this increment. If it’s due to high cost of printing, let them tell us what’s been done to address the high cost of living for students.

The second issue is that of Unions. We are all aware that Madam Luo banned all union activities at the University of Zambia, meaning students are not represented in any way, but to everyone’s surprise, students are being charged a Union fee of about K45, where is the money going, let alone why it is being paid.

If we pay, then I suggest Union activities resume immediately because we, the students need answers, like why scrap off the mini shops, the famous yellow container, Barbar shops, etc.

I thank you
DANIEL S
