LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT WANTS ZNS TO BE INCHARGE OF ZAMBIA’S GOLD RESERVES

By Chileshe Mwango

Opposition Leadership Movement President Richard Silumbwe has advised government to leave the operations of gold reserves dotted across the country to the Zambia National Service –ZNS-.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Dr. Silumbwe says it is high time Zambia stopped depending on foreign companies for investment in the extraction of its natural resources.

Dr. Silumbwe says there is also need for order in the manner gold mining is being conducted in the country.

He says it is evident that Zambia is already losing a lot of resources in terms of revenue to foreign investors when the country has institutions such as ZNS which has exhibited the highest level ofdiscipline and capacity to run investments such as gold mining.

Mr. Silumbe argues that Zambia does not need huge sums of capital to embark on this venture but only interaction between human and natural resources which ZNS can conduct effectively.
